When I find a piece of beautiful embroidery it brings me back to my childhood, when I would sew daisy chains with my mother. I would sit for hours trying to get the stitches perfect. My mother had so much patience with me and I'm sure when I went to bed at night Mom would fix my work because every morning my work looked better than the evening before... Over the years all the pieces I had embroidered have disappeared, but my love for the art never has. I often wander flea markets in search of "Tapestry Dreams". I look for table cloths and runners with stains and holes and come home with these treasures and turn them into repurposed items like bracelets, purses, pillows, lamp shades and more. Endless hours have been spent embroidering these pieces and I think it is really nice to honor their beauty and their story. Try some of these ideas yourself, maybe you have a piece of embroidery from your Grandmother waiting to be transformed into a unique one of a kind item!
